Meet Sonja

Sonja Lockyer has been teaching yoga for 20 years. Her yoga journey has included extensive training in systems of yoga, bodywork, somatic movement practices, meditation and traditional breath practices. Inspired to teach the world to self-soothe the impact of trauma on bodies and mindset, everything Sonja offers is designed to cultivate a sense of connection with the earth, self, one another and the cosmos. Whether you join Sonja for the dance practice of Qoya, a yoga class or a meditation practice, you will always be encouraged to bring a quality of presence that allows us to remember loving kindness, compassion, joy and equanimity. Sonja is currently undertaking a Post Grad Diploma in CPP Mindfulness based Psychotherapy at the Karuna Institute.

Classical Vinyasa on Tuesdays 10am until 11:15am and Thursdays 9:15am until 10:15am

Classical Vinyasa Yoga is an invitation to slow down and be present whilst moving your breath and body in ways that deeply nourish all parts of you. Through yoga we cultivate our capacity for inner awareness whilst building physical strength, balance and flexibility. Set to beautiful music, this class recognises the cadence of seasonal and lunar rhythms within us, whilst supporting a mindset of loving kindness, compassion, joy & equanimity. Suitable for those interested in evolving their yoga practice into something that includes physical, soulful & mental nourishment.

Qoya with Sonja on the 3rd Thursday of every month 7:15pm until 8:45pm

Qoya is a simple somatic dance practice, built on the understanding that movement is medicine. Integrating yoga and dance - with threads of shamanism and tantra - each Qoya session will gently guide your awareness back to your body where your innate intelligence resides. This is how we access the clarity and wisdom of feeling each moment. Qoya is an invitation to move in a way that feels good, without the need to present or pretend; an opportunity to be guided by your internal compass rather than external expectation. There is no way you can get it wrong, the way you know you are getting it right is that it feels good. Qoya is suitable for anyone ready to get out of their head and into their body. Through movement we remember our essence is wise, wild and free. Open to anyone who identifies as female.
